Workshop on Enhancing Pass rate of Schools in Nigeria

Workshop on Enhancing Pass rate of Schools in Nigeria

abacus

Executive summary

The over 12,000 private primary and secondary schools in Lagos provide a captive market for the adoption and use of Abacus and Speed Mathematics systems. This is made more so with the poor pass rates in general examinations in Nigeria, which is put at about 30 percent. Abacus and Speed Mathematics have the potential to change this poor pass rate of schools, starting from Lagos State.

If Abacus and Speed Mathematics are adopted in Lagos State, then adoption across schools in the other states of Nigeria will be rapid. Abacus and Speed Mathematics are solutions propagated by Hyderabad-based Maxmind; EduSoft Associates is the sole franchisee of these solutions in Nigeria

This abridged document therefore sets out the format of the proposed workshop/seminar and expected benefits.

2.0: Format of the event

It is projected as an educative, informative, engaging three-hour event in which a resource person from India will present the benefits of Abacus and Speed Mathematics to invited guests, provide greater clarity to areas that are not clear, take questions directly from guests and provide answers that would be clearly understood by guests.

The endorsement of the Honourable Minister of Education, Hajiya Ruqayyah Ahmed Rufa’i, via her participation and delivery of the keynote address, will help in driving publicity for the event. This strategic publicity will help in attracting the cream of private schools proprietors in Lagos State to attend and participate in the workshop.
